Sterling Eli Doss

HARLINGEN, Texas — Sterling Eli "S.E." Doss, 91, of Harlingen died June 30, 2004, at Harlingen. He was born Feb. 8, 1913, in Moody, Texas, to Joseph Eli and Liddie Pearl Sellers Doss. He was a dairy farmer for 30 years in Gently before moving to Harlingen in December 2002. His interests included fishing and yard work. He was preceded in death by his wives, Vera Mae Fain Doss, and Marian Nichols Hetherington Doss; are son, Corris Doss and one grandson, Gene Doss.

Survivors include two sons, Sterling Joe Doss of Skiatook, Okla., and Dwight Doss of Harlingen; two stepdaughters, Connie Hart of Gravette and Bonnie Shankles; 16 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Gentry with Dr. Robin Cowin officiating.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the church Saturday.

Burial will follow in Gentry Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Siloam Springs -- Mrs. Vera Mae Doss, 50, of the Bloomfield community; died in Memorial Hospital at Siloam Springs Friday after an extended illness. She was a native of Kaleen, Texas and a resident of this area since 1941. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gentry.

Surviors include the husband, S. D. Doss; three sons, Corrie of Gentry; Sterling of Tahlequaw, Okla., and Dwight of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Ranne of Midland, Texas; two brothers, Horace Sain Lanna, Texas and Reubin Sain of Gainsville, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Gentry. Buriel in the Gentry Cemetery under direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

GENTRY — Dorothea Marion Doss, 80, of Gentry died June 3, 2002, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born June 27, 1921, in Fairmont, Neb. to Clarence Bardon and Nellie Dorothea Ethel Lashbrook Nichols. She moved to the Gentry area in 1955 from Arizona. She was a teacher and later a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Gus Hetherington and by one stepson, Corris Doss.

Survivors include her husband, Sterling Eli Doss of the home, who she married in 1965; two daughters, Connie Lou Hurt of Gravette and Bonnie Jean Shankles of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepsons, Sterling Doss of Skiatook, Okla., and Dwight Doss of Raytown, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gentry First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Gentry Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.
