HENNON, James C. - James C. Hennon, for 30 years a teacher and principal of the Bentonville schools and later publisher of the Benton County Sun, died at his home in Bentonville early on Wednesday morning, May 11th, following a week's illness. Death was due to cancer of the liver, it is stated. He was 69 years of age. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, South this {Thursday} afternoon with his pastor, the Rev. R.S. Hayden, conducting the services. Burial was made in the City Cemetery. The Masonic Lodge conducted services at the grave. The funeral was largely attended and the floral offerings in tribute to an old friend and schoolmaster, were profuse in quantity and very beautiful. Mr. Hennon was born in Pennsylvania in 1863. He came west when a young man and located in Kirksville, Missouri. Here he attended and graduated from the state normal college and then took up his chosen profession of teaching. After teaching in the state of Missouri for several years he came to Bentonville 40 years ago which has since been his home. Mr. Hennon was one of the oldest Masons in membership of the Bentonville lodge and was secretary for nearly 25 years. After giving up his school work he purchased the Benton County Sun which he published for several years. Two years ago Mr. Hennon became associate editor of the Benton County Herald which position he held at the time of his death. Mr. Hennon was a kindly man and highly thought of by all who knew him. His familiar face and friendly greeting will be greatly missed in the city. Besides his widow he is survived by two sons, Charles Hennon of St. Louis, who arrived at his father's bedside the night before he passed away, and Robert Hennon of Los Angeles, also by two brothers and two sisters.
