HURLEY, Mary Louise DEUTSCH - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Louise Hurley, wife of Dr. Charles E. Hurley, whose death occurred here at the Hurley home at 7:45 o'clock Saturday morning, November 23rd, 1929 following an illness of nearly three months, were held Sunday afternoon at the Bentonville Presbyterian Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. A.W. Henderson. Interment was at the Bentonville cemetery and as the last rites were said at church and grave a great profusion of flowers bore witness to the love and esteem of a host of friends. Mrs. Hurley, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Deutsch, was born on August 2nd, 1867 in Corydon, the old state capital of Indiana. She grew up there and graduated from the Corydon high school at the age of 18. Later she moved with her parents and other members of the family to Oakland City, Indiana where she lived until her marriage. While visiting here in Bentonville with her sister, Mrs. W.D. Mauck, and Judge Mauck in the summer of 1889 she met Dr. Chas. E. Hurley who recently had graduated in medicine and surgery and was then beginning his practice as an associate of his father. In the fall of the following year, on October 15th, 1890 they were married at Oakland City and have since made Bentonville their home. To them one child was born Edwin Hurley, on August 4th, 1891. He lived a little less than two years, dying in June 1893. His birth and the short, happy time he was with them, and his death, was the greatest joy and the greatest sorrow of their married life. For more than 40 years Mrs. Hurley had been an active and consistent member of the Presbyterian Church. United with that church in early life back in Indiana, after coming to Arkansas she transferred her membership to the Bentonville Presbyterian Church. Besides her husband Mrs. Hurley is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W.D. Mauck of Bentonville and Mrs. Anna Evans of Phoenix, Arizona. Physicians from all over Benton County and from Washington County attended Mrs. Hurley's funeral in a body.
