PEEL, Lon C. - Lon C. Peel, a prominent and well known young business man of Bentonville, died at the family home just south of town on Tuesday afternoon, May 13th, 1924 at the age of 45 years after an illness of over a year. For the past two weeks death has been expected any time. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a large number of old friends. As a mark of respect to the deceased the business houses were closed during the services. Rev. Stephen Morton conducted the services, assisted by Rev. W.C. Wheat. Services at the cemetery were held under the charge of the Knights of Pythias of which he was a prominent member. Lon C. Peel was born in the old Eagle Hotel, where the Hotel Massey now stands, in Bentonville on April 6th, 1879. As a young man he studied pharmacy and became a registered pharmacist in 1902. He was also in the drug business here for a number of years. He later became a traveling salesman for the John Schapp Wholesale Drug Company of Fort Smith and was with them for 13 years, resigning to organize the Peel Motor Company with which he has been connected ever since. Besides his father, Joe H. Peel, he is survived by two brothers, Will Peel of Cabin Creek, W. Va. and Robert Peel of this city; also one sister, Mrs. Walter Haxton of the home address.
