LINDSEY, Felix G. - Judge Felix G. Lindsey died Monday, June 29 at 10 a.m. at the home of his son, Vol T. Lindsey, in this city, aged 63 years, four months and six days. Judge Lindsey's death resulted from diabetes following a prolonged illness which made him an invalid in the last few months. He was born at Stockton, Cedar county, Mo. February 23, 1862 and moved to Sulphur Springs, Ark. with his parents in 1867 where he spent his formative years. He married Miss Emma Strain in Sedan, Kan. on Sept. 3, 1885 where he and his wife continued to make their home for many years. Three children were born to them, two sons, Vol and Grover, of this place, and a daughter, Virgie E., who died in infancy. In March of 1893 he removed to Bentonville and began the practice of law, first as a law partner of Attorney W.D. Mauck and later as a member of the law firm of McGill and Lindsey, a partnership which continued more than 20 years and was ended only with the decision of Judge Lindsey to discontinue his private practice and enter the service of the state. In 1917 Mr. Lindsey was appointed to the position of state fire marshal by Governor Brough. The business-like methods which he adopted in the handling of this important position won him reappointment under succeeding governors Thomas C. McRae and Tom Terral. Judge Lindsey had been a prominent member in the Masonic fraternity for many years. In 1911 he was honored by election as Grand Master of Arkansas Masons, a position his close friend, Storm 0. Whaley, now occupies. At the conclusion of his service as Grand Master he was selected as Orator of the Arkansas grand lodge. He was also a member of the Eastern Star order and the knights of Pythias. The latter organization provided a special guard of honor at the funeral which was held at the home of his son, Vol T. Lindsey, in Bentonville. Besides his wife and two sons, Judge Lindsey is survived by four sisters, Mrs. W.H. Thomason of Nowata, Okla.; Mrs. Mary Hood, Glenrose, Tex.; Mrs. Al Majors, Bentonville; Mrs. John McDonald of Sulphur Springs and two brothers, B.F. Lindsey of Grove, Okla. and G.W. Lindsey of Sulphur Springs.
