Friday, January 27, 1928 following an illness of but twelve days. Mrs. Reynolds, who had made her home in Carterville, Mo. since leaving Bentonville, was visiting her son and daughter-in-law where she was stricken with pneumonia. She was seventy years of age. Funeral services were held in Carterville, Mo. Sunday and the body brought here for burial. A short service, conducted by Rev. A.W. Henderson and Rev. O.A. Besides her son, Reginald, she is survived by a brother, W.A. Thompson, a retired railroad engineer of Eldorado, Kansas. Mrs. Reynolds was born March 4, 1858 and was the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. A.W. Thompson. When a few years old her parents moved to Fort Scott, Kansas. A year later they moved to Iola, Kansas where Mr. Thompson laid out the new town and built the first house in it. He was sent there as a missionary of the M.E. church. He saw many of the stirring events of warfare along the border during the Civil War. At the close of the conflict the family moved to Mound Ridge, Mo., near Lamar. Here she was married to the Rev. Robert W. Reynolds in 1878. Six years later they moved to Carterville, Mo. and then to Bentonville in 1896. Here Rev. Reynolds became pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church in 1896. In 1901 the family left here only to return six years later when Rev. Reynolds accepted the pastorate of the M.E. Church. He died in 1913.
