SELVY, F.M. - F.M. Selvy was born at Kirksville, Mo. April 19, 1844. He was married to Melita E. Armstrong March 29, 1866. To this union were born four girls and one son. The mother died in 1898 and he married Mrs. Sarah Black March 26, 1903. He moved to Iowa, living there a number of years and then to Arkansas in 1897. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and four daughters: Mrs. Florence Cotten of Burlingame, Kans., Mrs. Dora Riddle of Rogers, Mrs. Nellie Patterson, Alton, Kans. and Mrs. Effie Nance, Bentonville. Also three sisters, one living in Kansas City and two in Iowa; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He professed faith in Christ in early life and united with the Presbyterian church. He lived a consistent Christian life until he died. On moving to Arkansas he united with the M.E. church in May 1897. Brother Selvy has been a class leader and an official member ever since uniting with the church; a faithful worker for the cause of the Great Master, also a devoted husband and loving father to his family; always kind to those he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed by the church and all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted at the residence by his pastor, Rev. J.R. Campbell, assisted by Rev. Peter Carnahan of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the city cemetery.
