John W. Webb Dies at Home Near Oxford

John William Webb, aged 64, well known citizen of near Oxford, died at his home Tuesday night, following an illness of only a few hours. He appeared as well as usual until Tuesday afternoon when he complained of not feeling well. Mr. Webb was born and reared in this county and practically all of his life was spent in the vicinity of Oxford. He was one of this section's most highly esteemed citizens. The funeral was held at New Hope church Thursday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. J. M. Rush. Burial was in the Shaver Campground cemetery, the McGuire Funeral Home of Calico Rock being in charge. Deceased is survived by his wife; one son, Paul Webb of Oxford; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Morgan of the state of Washington and five brothers, Joe of Union, Marvin of Wideman, Elmer of Oxford, James of Hardy and Harmon Webb of Bald Knob.

[Note: Gravestones has inscribed birth year of 1891; however, when he married in 1900, he was shown as being 19 years old. He showed his birth date as August 28, 1880, when he registered for World War I.]
