Hazel Stane, 85, of Bigelow died July 15, 2011, with her family by her side in Conway, Arkansas. She was born December 19, 1925, in Houston, Arkansas to John Jacob Gwin and Lillie Mae Kennedy Gwin.
She married Thomas Ray Stane September 6, 1942 and had seven children. Mrs. Stane was a homemaker and avid quilter and gardener. She was an active member of the Oppelo Assembly of God Church where she often sang in the church. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members.
She is survived by her three sons, Lonnie Ray Stane of Houston, Ralph Gordon Stane of Bigelow, and Rudy Nils Stane of Bigelow, three daughters, Connie Mae Lester of Conway, Marilyn Juanita Spears of Quitman and Betty Lois Johnson of Bigelow; sister, Claudia Gwin Ford of Houston; fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Louise Lane, her husband Thomas Ray Stane and her brother Ellis Paul Gwin.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday July 18, 2011 at Oppelo Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at Volman Cemetery in Bigelow Arkansas by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Mrs. Stanes body will lie in state at her home 824 Bernard St., Fourche, Arkansas. The family will receive friends 2:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17th.
