Dr. J.C. Myers, 87, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away June 20, 2011. J.C. was born June 18, 1924 in Amity, Arkansas to the late George N. and Catherine (McMinnis) Myers. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Opal and brothers Fred, Jim, George, James, and Velmar Myers of the Amity and Hot Springs area. Dr. Myers was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church, North Little Rock.
He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in 1952, received his Bachelor of Divinity i1966 and Doctor of Theology I 1970 from Luther Rice Seminary, Jacksonville, Florida. He served as pastor for several Baptist churches from 1947 until his retirement in 2006, including Rosedale Baptist Church, Little Rock, from 1955-1960 and 2003 - 2006, and First Baptist Church, North Little Rock, Arkansas from 1960-1984.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Neal Myers; one brother, Bill (Vonnie) Myers, Little Rock; one son, Bob (Linda) Myers, Sherwood; daughter, Judy Logan, North Little Rock; grandson, Bobby (Lauren) Myers, Jr., Jonesboro; granddaughters, Samantha (Christian) Lesher, Sherwood; Jennifer Powell, Sherwood; Cristin (Steve) Hinson, Hot Springs; two great-granddaughters, Lydia Logan and Leigh Ann Powell; and two great-grandsons, Bobby Myers III, and Jackson Lesher.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 24th, 2011 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock (501) 835-3515. Interment will follow at Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
