Dr. William D. Hill was the son of J. Benjamin Hill and Sarah Jane Mallard Hill. He and his wife, Elizabeth Foster, were the parents of Sarah Jane Hill and Narcissa Tabitha Hill. William, Elizabeth, daughter Sarah Jane and her husband John A. Sheffield came to Lunenburg about 1848-1850. Dr. Hill was a Confederate soldier in Co F, Freeman's Regiment of Cavalry of Arkansas. After Elizabeth's death, he married Mary Ann Walker Haley.
