"In Memory of George W. Denton"
George W. Denton (better known as Uncle George) was born Nov 29, 1856 and departed this life Sept 12, 1932, age 76 years, 10 months. He was married to Miss Malinda Banning 1882. He is survived by his aged companion, a son John of Guion and two daughters, Mrs. Mae Gillihan of Lunenburg and Miss Edna Denton of Batesville. He was converted and joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Lunenburg in 1893 and lived a true Christian life. No one could be missed more than Uncle George as he has spent the most of his life in our community. In his passing it leaves the hearts of his wife and children and all who know him sad because he is with us no more. But he has only passed from death unto life. He has paid the debt we must all pay heed the glad message "Well done, thou good and faithful servant enter in the joys of the Lord. No one knows better how to sympathize with the companion that the writer for some three years ago I had to give up my loving companion. It's hard but we must submit to Gods will and on that great Judgment Day we shall all meet around the throne of grace where there will be no more partings, no pain and God shall wipe all tears away. - by A Niece

Note; His age could not be proven by census records but if the age in the obituary is correct then he was most likely born in 1856 as the memorial says.
