Mr. Alton L. "Buddy" Koettel of Newport, Arkansas departed this life at Little Rock on Saturday, April 20, 2002 at the age of eighty. He was born November 9, 1921 at Remmel Community, Arkansas, the son of Charley and Lottie Belle (Pankey) Koettel. Mr. Koettel married Miss Belle Kirksey on December 26, 1949. He was a mill operator for Revere Copper and Brass for thirty-five years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ in Newport. Mr. Koettel was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Collier Massey Post #4683 V.F.W. of Newport. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and watching hs sons and grandsons play sports. Mr. Koettel was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Caroline Koettel on January 7, 1992. Mr. Koettel is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Belle (Kirksey) of Newport, Arkansas; two sons, Garry Koettel and wife Vivian of Farmington, Arkansas and Rodney Koettel and wife Pattie of North Little Rock, Arkansas; one daughter, Debbie Bowman and husband Roger of Newport, Arkansas; his twin sister, Cleo Davenport of Borger, Texas; six grandsons, Ryan Bowman and wife Cortney, Peyton Bowman, Garrett Koettel, Grant Koettel, Tyler Koettel and Seth Koettel.
