Note: An obituary could not be located for Dr T L Schenck; however, he was shown as a physician as early as 1870 where he was recorded in the Red Oak township of Montgomery County, Iowa. Here is an article from The Melbourne Times, Melbourne, Arkansas, January 16, 1925, telling of his 92nd birthday party:
Dr T L Schenck Celebrates 92 Birthday
A number of friends and neighbors gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs. Joe Schenck of Oxford Dec 31 in honor of the 92 birthday of Mr Schenck's father, Dr T L Schenck. Dr Schenck came to Izard County 48 years ago from Nebraska and has lived here ever since. He is one of the few remaining Union Soldiers, having fought 3 years (unclear) and six months in the Union Army. While he is confined to his chair most of the time, he takes an active interest in the affairs of the country. All enjoyed the day and we hope he may celebrate many more birthdays before he is called to his eternal home.
