Harold Ray Bartholomew, 86, a resident of Hogeye, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord on October 23, 2009 in Farmington, Arkansas. He was born September 2, 1923 in Strickler, Arkansas, the son of William H. and Mary Hannah Stewart Bartholomew.

Harold proudly served his country during World War II. He flew 29 missions over Germany, including Berlin, as a tail gunner. He worked at the Washington County Sale Barn from 1939 to the mid 1970's, most of that time as the auctioneer. Harold served as the pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Prairie Grove and in Fayetteville from 1957 to 1987. For one year during that time he pastored both churches. He also sang most of his life with several gospel groups, most recently with the Golden Harvest Quartet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Jack, Wallace and Willard. His sisters, Bea Copeland, Marie Foren and Nellie Dean Traylor.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Maudileen Cates Bartholomew of the home; three sons, Jerry Bartholomew of Hogeye, Arkansas, Jimmy Bartholomew and his wife, Debbie of Hogeye, Arkansas and David Bartholomew and his wife, Linda of Hogeye, Arkansas; one daughter, Sue Bartholomew of Farmington, Arkansas; one brother, Argil Bartholomew and his wife Emma Belle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; four brothers in law, Earl Cates and his wife, Mildred of Farmington, Arkansas, Bill Cates of Beebe, Arkansas, Gene Cates and his wife, Kathleen of Hogeye, Arkansas and J.B. Traylor and his wife, Shirley of Fayetteville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Chris Bartholomew and his wife, Gina of Lowell, Arkansas, Matthew Bartholomew and his wife, Gwen of Lamar, Missouri, Stephanie Elling and her husband, Paul of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Susan Trantham and her husband, Chuck of Farmington, Arkansas, Doug Lossing of Farmington, Arkansas, Bridgette Caples and her husband, Devin of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Kara McConnell and her husband Mike of Hogeye, Arkansas and Candice Stephens and her husband, Kevin of Hogeye, Arkansas, twenty-one great grandchildren, Madison, Christian, Kylie, Miranda, Izzy, Brittany, Hayden, Mason, Eliana, Kaustin, Christian, Ashley, Madilyn, Meredith, Bailey, Cole, Claire, Katharine, Karaline, Rheis and David, two great great grandchildren, Lillian and Jack.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas;

Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 26, 2009 - 2:00 P.M. at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Prairie Grove, Arkansas with burial in Rutherford Cemetery near Hogeye, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be: Billy Don Cates, Dee Bartholomew, Rick Bartholomew, Mike Traylor, Carlis Bartholomew, Dwight Bartholomew, Billy Joe Bartholomew and Tommy Bartholomew.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jack Thompson, Ronnie Rinehart, George Schooler, John Cates, Billy Wayne Cunningham and Robert Abercrombie.
