Gladys Walden Everett of Benton died Tuesday, March 10, 1998. She was 90. She was the daughter of D F and Maude Bea Walden of Benton.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton for more than 60 years. She served the church as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent of the Adult Department and Training Union Director. She was an agent for the American National Insurance Co. in the Saline County area for more than 20 years and owned and operated the Everetts' Insurance Agency. In earlier years she worked for Benton Supply Co. and Family Shoe Store and also was a salesperson for Stanley Home Products. A poet, she had numerous poems published in The Benton Courier.
Survivors include two sons, Tom Everett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Wayne Everett of Arkadelphia; two brothers, Danny Walden of Dallas, Texas, and Gene Walden of Benton; two sisters, Virginia Hogue of El Paso, Texas, and Aline Alley of Benton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
