GRAVETTE WEATHER OBSERVER DIES AT 82 YEARS
A.F. Stevens, a resident of Gravette and community for over 30 years, died late Friday night at the age of 82 years.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church, an old-time friend of Springdale, conducting the services. Burial was made in Bethel cemetery on the Spavinaw.
He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Miss Fern Stevens of the home and Mrs. Rolla Pain of Gravette.
For over 20 years, Mr. Stevens was an unofficial weather observer for the Department of Agriculture. In his younger days he engaged in farming and fruit growing. A number of years ago he moved to Gravette to live.
