Carl P. Nelson

HUNTSVILLE — The Rev. Carl Paschal Nelson, 93, of Huntsville died Nov. 19, 1995, at his home. He was born Feb. 11, 1902, at Konowa in Indian Territory, to John Paschal and Anna Mae Parris Nelson. He was a retired minister, having served churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Arizona since 1931. He was the former pastor at First Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church, both in Huntsville. He continued to hold revival and served as a supply pastor after his retirement in 1968 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Ballard Nelson; one daughter, Pamela Kay Nelson; one brother, Lee Nelson; one sister, Nell Campbell.

Survivors include his wife, Marion Katherian (Katie) Edmondson Nelson of the home; six sons, Carl P. (Pack) Nelson of Okmulgee, Okla., Gayle Nelson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Jerry Nelson of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Lt. Randy Nelson of San Antonio, Texas, B. Mark Nelson of Fayetteville and Steve Nelson of Huntsville; one daughter, Mary Ann Shilling of Springdale; two brothers, Gene Nelson of Duncan, Okla., and Vernon Nelson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Mary Hank of Chickasha, Okla.; Margaret Knight of Garberville, Calif., and Lucille Tucker of Konowa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Huntsville with the Rev. Mart Hardin, the Rev. Phil Lineberger, the Rev. Lynn Egan and the Rev. Roy I. Cain officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gentry Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be Carl P. Nelson, Gayle Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Randy Nelson, B. Mark Nelson, Steve Nelson and Ralph Shilling.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Austin C. Smith, Mack Lewis and the Senior Adult Men's Class at First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to youth or bus fund at the church or Communities Home Health and Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1537, Huntsville, 72740.
