ROGERS — James Edward Sands, 87, of Rogers died Jan. 29, 1996, at his home. He was born June 28, 1908, in Burwin, Okla., to Edward and Elvie Thompson Sands. He was self-employed and was former owner of furniture stores in Bentonville. He was a professional fishing guide and was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Sands of Rogers; three daughters, Jimmie Lou Pryor of Tulsa, Okla., Awanda Carnahan of Bixby, Okla., and Jonnie Swisher of Rogers; two sisters, Ponnie Mantooth of Bakersfield, Calif., and Audry Morman of Richland, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Burns Funeral Home of Rogers with the Rev. Al Maines officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bentonville Cemetery.

Alice Sands
ROGERS — Alice Cleo Sands, 92, of Rogers died Sept. 14, 2006. She was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Gower. Mo., to Ina Julina Ball and John Benjamin
McCorkle. She was a charter member of Open Door Baptist Church in Rogers. She moved to the area in 1941 from Tahlequah, Okla. She retired from Daisy Manufacturing Co., and enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Sands and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include three daughters, Jimmie L. Pryor of Tulsa, Okla., Awanda Carnahan and husband Carl of Jenks, Okla., Jonnie Swisher and husband Don of Rogers; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Stockdale Funeral Home in Rogers, online at stockdalefuneral.com. Karl Roten will officiate. Burial will be in Bentonville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Pryor, Jamie Pryor, Tom Pryor, Tony Pryor, Don Pryor and Dustin Gamble.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
