CONNELLY, Barnard - B.F. Dunn received word Thursday from the Territory that U.S. Deputy Marshal Connelly of Siloam Springs had been shot while in the Territory after some criminals and that his body would arrive at Rogers Friday morning. Only meagre particulars could be learned. Mr. Connelly and a Mr. White were here last Saturday on business with Mr. Dunn. The deceased was about 40 years old.

CONNELLY, Barney - from The Tahlequah Telephone} Sheppard Busby and Alexander Lewis were convicted of murder in the U.S. Court at Ft. Smith last week and sentenced to be hung on Wednesday, April 27. Busby was convicted of killing U.S. Deputy Marshal Barney Connelly last fall while resisting arrest. His son, William, was also implicated in the killing and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in the house of correction at Detroit. Lewis was one of five men that attempted to rob an M.K. & T. train in 1888 and in the attempt a passenger, Benj. C. Tarver, was shot and killed. The news agent and mail clerk were also wounded. Three of the five men were afterwards killed, one made a confession and Lewis was left to be tried alone with the above result.
