Excerpts from an obituary for W. H. Meeks in The Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, Arkansas, May 29, 1942:
W. H. Meeks, 80, died May 17, survivors are five daughters: Mrs. Luther George and Mrs. Dock Boyd, both of Bristow, Oklahoma; Mrs. Jess Adketson of Bakersfield, Missouri; Mrs. Joel Garner and Mrs. Lathe Parks, both of Gamaliel, Arkansas; four sons: John Meeks of Paso Robles, California; Jim Meeks of Jerome, Idaho, R. C. Meeks and Everett Meeks of Gamaliel, Arkansas.
He came here from Kentucky many years ago.
Burial was in Bean Cemetery.
(Note: His name and birth date are inscribed on the double gravestone with his wife who died January 18, 1939; however, when he died he was buried in the Bean Cemetery. Prior to the impounding of Lake Norfork, the graves in the Bean Cemetery were relocated to the New Bean Cemetery, Gamaliel, Arkansas, which is now called the Bean Cemetery like the original one.)
