Mary Frances Sims, age 80, of Benton died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at her home. She was born March 8, 1931 to Mary and Avery Martin in Austin, Ark. Mary Frances went through Little Rock Public Schools, graduating from Little Rock High School in 1948. She graduated from Little Rock Junior College in 1950. She belonged to Zeta Phi Sorority at UALR. She also sang in Acapella Choir in college. After graduating from UALR, she married Samuel Richard Sims Jr. They have been married for 60 years. She is survived by her husband, Richard Sims Jr.; two children, daughter, Linda Kimball and husband Kirk, of North Little Rock, son, Martin Sims and wife Jeannie; grandchildren, Cara Sims Dyer and husband David, Conley Sims and wife Morgan; great-grandchildren, Layton Dickerson, Kaley Dyer and Caroline Jace Dyer. Mary Frances retired from Arkansas Teacher Retirement as Manager of Benefits and Counseling Dept. She was a long standing member of Park View United Methodist Church while her children were growing up, as Sunday school teacher, choir member and member of the church board. She was a member of the original Benton Bridge Club. Liked to cook, work in the backyard, read, do crossword puzzles, traveling and had a love of dogs. While her children were younger, before working for Teacher Retirement, she was an Avon representative for several years. Mary Frances and Richard Sims were long time members of First United Methodist Church. She was a long time member of the Dorcus School Class and a member of their Senior Choir. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel. Minister will be Rev. David Jones. Online guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
