Cecil H. Dunbar

ROGERS — Cecil H. Dunbar, 93, of Rogers died March 3, 2007. He was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Floral, Kan., to Jess and Dessie Gates Dunbar. He was raised and educated in Arkansas City, Kan. He married Leona Shurtz were married Nov. 11, 1933, in Arkansas City.

He was a retired wheat farmer. He and his family moved to Rogers in 1982 from Larned, Kan.

He was a member of the Lions Club of Rogers. He enjoyed fishing on Beaver Lake, as well as water skiing.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter, Beverly Barstow.

Survivors include a daughter, Cecilia Hernandez of Austin, Texas; one brother, John Dunbar of Eugene, Ore.; and a son-in-law, Edwin Barstow of Rogers. He also is survived by a grandson, three granddaughters, a greatgrandson and a great-great-
granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Callison-Lough Funeral Home Chapel of Rogers with Laura Whitaker officiating.

Burial will follow at the Rogers City Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter.

Ellen Dunbar

ROGERS — Ellen Leona Dunbar, 81, of Rogers, died Sept. 29, 1995, at the Rogers Rehabilitation and Living Center. She was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Arkansas City, Kan., to Ernest and Eva Bagby Shurtz. She lived near Udall, Kan., and moved to Larned, Kan., in 1938. She and her husband were selected as the Kansas Farm Family of the Year and were awarded the Soil Conservation Award by the Pawnee Bankers Association. She lived in Larned for 44 years before moving to Rogers in April 1982. She was employed at the First National Bank and the county offices in Larned for several years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Rogers, the Women's Fellowship of the church and the Music Club.

Survivors include her husband Cecil H. Dunbar of Rogers, to whom she was married on Nov. 11, 1933; two daughters, Beverly Barnston of Rogers and Cecelia Hernandez of Austin, Texas; one sister, Joliene Cocman of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one grandson, Keith Dunbar of Rogers; three granddaughters and one greatgrandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Rogers with the Rev. Chris Pulliam and the Rev. Don Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery under the direction of the Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
