says "Eddie Kellog was admitted October 15, 1887 at the age of 10 years."

"Born March 8, 1877, Monroe County, Mich. Parents American and Protestants. Father's name Chas. E. Kellogg. Mother's Eva T. Kellogg. Father was a farmer and high tempered and died in Feb. 1882. The mother, a mild gentle woman, died November 15, 1885. Since then, the boy has lived with his grandfather, Alexander Tracy, of this city, who is an invalid and poor, but worthy and respectable."
"March 17, 1890, Edwin was sent to Mr. Jackson Smith, a farmer living 1 ½ miles west of Pimento, Vigo Co. Edwin ran away one year ago, thinking that he could earn a good deal of money among farmers. After tramping around the country a day or two, he returned. Recently he has been very uneasy in school and quite disobedient and troublesome. He has threatened to run away a number of times. On Tuesday, he had planned to run away with Eugene Culture and I concluded to send him away in good shape and let him try the world for a time. Mr. Smith is an old friend of his family and they have been talking of taking him, if he would be a good boy. I gave him money to return with if they do not care to keep him."
"Feb 2, 1891, Edwin returned to the home in a very dirty and dilapidated condition and asked to be received again acknowledging that he had made a great mistake in leaving. He has been living with Mr. Levi Jackson Smith of Pimento, Vigo Co. He is very poorly clothed and has not been to school a single day since he left."
"Feb 24, 1891, Charles Hayworth of Pimento, Ind. who has known Edwin for one year, took Edwin."
"July 1892, Mr. Hayworth brought Edwin to the home complaining that he had run away from him without cause - that he had caught him and returned him to the home and wished to be relieved from his responsibility. The Supt. talked with both parties and persuaded Mr. H to try Edwin again. Edwin, promising to do better and was given an entire new set of clothes."
"Jan. 1898, near Farmersburg, doing better."
"Nov. 21, 1901, met Ed K. in city who was selling a load of hay. Is married and renting a farm south of the city. Says that he is getting along all right."
"5/27/10, wrote Ed at Farmersburg, Ind. Letter returned."
"12/30/41, Edwin wrote from Solgohachia, Ark, asking for date of birth,etc. Wishes to apply for old age pension. Is now 64. Sent information."

When the Kellogg family moved from Vigo County, Indiana, much communication was lost. Only a few post cards were exchanged. It is not known why the family moved from Indiana to Arkansas.
