Thomas Lowvell Allen of Adona, AR was born December 31, 1933. He passed away April 18, 2012. He was born in south Arkansas, and was one of 15 children. He married Dorothy McCallister at the age of 21. They were married the day after her 18th birthday. Thomas and Dorothy were married for 22 years, and in January 1978 Dorothy lost a long fought battle to cancer. Thomas was remarried on September 9, 1979 to Betty Gifford, and they were married for 32 years. Thomas was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Allen, 8 sisters, and 4 brothers. He is survived by his wife Betty Allen of Conway, his brothers: Joel Allen of Pine Bluff, and AJ Allen of Ft. Smith. He is also survived by three daughters: Sandy and husband Donnie Young of Perry, Debbie and husband Rob George of Perryville, and Sheila and husband Gary Randolph of Searcy, two stepsons: Dale and Kim Gifford of Springfield and Danny and Angie also of Springfield, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of friends and family.

Thomas was a man of great character. He was devoted to God and to his family. He served 20 plus years in the United States Army before retiring. He served terms in both Korea and Vietnam. He received two purple hearts among many other honors and awards. He retired as an E9 Master Sergeant. Thomas was also a retired employee of Arkansas Kraft, where he was employed for 29 years.

Anyone that knew Thomas knew what he stood for and what kind of man he was. He stood for what was right and was passionate about his beliefs. He devoted 30 years of his life to the Lord and helping those in need. He was the type of guy that would do anything for anyone. He founded Grace Baptist Church of Adona and pastored there as well as Cornerstone Baptist Church of Morrilton. He donated to missions and to several churches and other Christian organizations.

Thomas Lowvell Allen is a man that will be greatly missed by all. He leaves behind a great legacy. Those of us who know and love him know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. "God is good, all the time, and all the time God is good." This was Thomas' favorite saying.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 20th at Grace Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Atkinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Grace Baptist Church in Adona. Burial will be at Fowler Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
