Mrs. Johnie Velma West Grimmer of Adona, passed away Monday, March 26, 2007, in Adona. She was born January 12, 1912, in Antioch, Arkansas. Mrs. Grimmer was the last remaining founding member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Adona, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Reverend Olin and Nola West and was preceded in death by them; her husband Henry A. Grimmer; two infant sons, Paul and Arthur Grimmer; and one granddaughter, Sheryll Snyder Rutherford; and eight siblings.
Left to thank God for her memory is four daughters and sons-in-law; Carolyn Fuller, Sue Snyder, Becky & George Rheinhardt all of Adona; Jeanetta and Johnny Hale of Rosebud and her “best son” Henry A. Grimmer Jr. (Pete) and his wife, Linda of Little Rock. Sixteen grandchildren and their spouses, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She also cared for and loved several foster children who remained in her heart, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Adona, with Bro. Bruce Swanson officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at the funeral home in Morrilton.
