Walter Edward 'Tom' Thompson

SPRINGDALE — Waiter Edward "Tom' Thompson, 81, of Springdale, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Lowell, to Walter Joseph and Margaret Shockley Thompson.

Tom retired from the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated a long-haul trucking company. He was a member of the Springdale Masonic Lodge No. 316 and he was a member of the Western Arkansas Scottish Rite Temple.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Thompson; and one daughter, Pamela Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia Thompson, to whom he was married May 26, 1962; two daughters, Sherry Thompson Fitzgerald and husband, Randy, of Springdale, and Jean Ann Thompson Adcox and husband, Kevin, of Harrison; three sisters, Marie Terry Barnes of Springdale, Dorothy Zacharay of Plainview, Texas, and Hazelteen Bowen and husband, Sherman, of Springdale; two grandchildren, Cole Fitzgerald and Alexa Fitzgerald; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. l0, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale, with the Rev. Rodney Weeks officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
