WALKER, John Franklin - Died, April 30, 1914 at the family residence in Rogers, John Franklin Walker, in the 58th year of his age. Deceased was born on Pea Ridge, Arkansas August 31st, 1856. Here he availed himself of the educational opportunities which that community furnished him. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior some 30 years ago and was received into the C.P. Church by the writer. January 1st, 1880 I had the pleasure of marrying him to Miss Mary Esther Braithwaite. To this union were born nine children - four sons and five daughters. He moved to Rogers in 1892. All of these years he was honorably engaged in merchandising or in other business relations in the city and surrounding country. A devoted husband, an affectionate father, a useful citizen, and above all an humble christian, he will be missed, not only by his beloved family and the city but by the whole community. He is survived by his devoted wife and four sons - Berry, Dean and Don of Rogers and Fred of Springfield, Mo.; and by five daughters - Misses Rose, Eva and Virginia of Rogers and Mrs. Lillian Roller of Divide, Col.; also three sisters - Miss Docia Walker and Mrs. John Lasater of Pea Ridge and Mrs. James Hickman, Jr. of Bentonville; and three brothers Wm. Walker of Rogers and Cally and Robert Walker of Pea Ridge; and an aged uncle - Mr. Vance Walker. The funeral service, held at the residence by the writer, assisted by Rev. Thomas, was attended by a large congregation of sympathizing neighbors and friends. The casket was literally buried under beautiful floral offerings by friends from near and far. The remains were laid to rest in the City Cemetery. May the blessed Savior comfort and support the bereaved family and friends by his supporting grace and comforting Spirit. P. Carnahan.
