Lyell Glen Sandford, 85, died April 22, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born July 31, 1921, in Hammond, Ind., to Lawrence and Lauretta Glenn Sandford.

Lyell and Gertrude "Pat" Koeppel were married Dec. 23, 1943, in Maywood, Ill., Presbyterian Church. He was a locomotive engineer with Conrail Railroad, retiring in 1981 after 38 years. He served his country in the Marine Corps for five years. During World War II, he was stationed in the Midway Islands and Saipan/Tinian Islands. He was a member of Arcadia Masonic Lodge 1138 in Lansing, Ill., for 55 years. He was a life member of the United Transportation Union and the Disabled American Veterans. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved from Lansing to Rogers in 1981. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rogers.

He was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, Lyndon, Robert and Rolland and three sisters, Margaret Ford, Naoma Lammertin and Gladys Bogner.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude "Pat" Sandford of the home; two sons, Lyell Jr. and wife Joyce of Midland, Mich., Thomas Sandford and wife Barbara of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; five grandchildren, Michael and wife Melanie Sandford of Richmond, Va., Sarah Sandford and Bryan Sandford, both of Midland, Mich., and Cpl. Neil Sandford and Pfc. Matthew Sandford of the Marine Corps.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 26 at Pea Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 25 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Rogers.

ROGERS — Gertrude "Pat" A. Sandford, 98, of Rogers died April 10, 2021. She was born in January 1923 in Hillside, Ill., to Matthew and Gertrude Koeppel.

She was preceded in death by husband Lyell Sandford; son Lyell Sandford; parents; stepfather Bryan "BJ" Wagner; sisters Ruth, Frances and Shirley; and brother Matthew.

She is survived by son Thomas Sandford and wife Barbara; daughter-in-law Joyce Sandford; grandchildren Michael, Sarah, Neil, Bryan and Matthew; great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Aidan, Henrik, Finn, Andrew, Ivan and Jack; nieces and nephews Lin, Bonnie, Martin, Anita, Paula, Beverly, Diane and Mark; and many friends.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Pea Ridge Cemetery, Pea Ridge, Ark. Arrangements by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th St., Rogers, Ark. Online condolences to www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
