Dovie Weems

SUMMERS -- Dovie Jacquelene Weems, 71, of Summers died June 9, 2005, at her home. She was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Utleyville, Colo., to James Burl and Lallie Belle Flowers Hopper. She graduated high school in 1948 from Arriola Elementary School in Colorado. She later graduated from Mesa (Ariz.) High School. She and her husband farmed near Fayetteville for several years. They moved to Summers in 1979 and raised chickens, horses and cattle for more than 20 years. She was a licensed real estate agent in Arkansas and was a former Stanley Home Products representative. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and gospel music. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Summers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Weems.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Weems and wife Stephanie of Prentiss, Maine, and Norman Weems of Concord, Vt.; one grandson, Cyrus Weems of Prentiss; two brothers, Herman Hopper of Mt. View, Hawaii, and Mike Hopper of Mesa; two sisters, Ruby Armstrong of Cordes Lakes, Ariz., and Belva Pierce of Dolores, Colo.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove. Dwight Hignite will officiate. Burial will be in Summers Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 643, Lincoln, 72744.

Pallbearers will be Scott Ramsey, Coy Ford, Ken Crittenden, Ron Allen, Tony Villines, Cyrus Weems and Jay Barker.
