HURD, Nancy Florence DEAN - Nancy Florence Dean Hurd, wife of Geo. W. Hurd living near Garfield, passed away Aug. 24, 1933 at the age of 67 years. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Sturdy of Pea Ridge. She was laid to rest at Tuck's Chapel by the side of her mother. Mrs. Hurd was born in Illinois in 1866 and was married to Mr. Hurd in 1886. To this union were born 5 children, 4 boys and one girl. She professed a hope in Christ 26 years ago and united with the M.E. Church at Van Alstyne, Tex. Surviving are her husband, her sons, James A. and Fred A. Hurd of Houston, Tex. and George W. Hurd, Jr. and family, all of whom came to see her before she died, and her daughter, Mrs. W.P. {Mary} Lee and children of Houston, Tex. came 3 weeks ago to be with her and to help her step sister, Mrs. Geo. W. Williams care for their mother. Nine grandchildren survive as well as 2 brothers, Henry and Brinson Dean, 2 sisters, Mrs. Bess Barnwell of Bestwater and Mrs. Belle Ford of Noxie, Okla. and a host of friends and relatives. The oldest son, Elden, died a year ago. She was a great lover of flowers. Her yard of lovely flowers were the admiration of all who passed by.
