MOUNT, Catherine {Kate} BARNETT - {from Elm Springs} Mrs. Kate Mount died Sunday morning after a week's illness with pneumonia. She was buried at this place yesterday and the funeral services conducted by Rev. John Ruble, were attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Mrs. Mount's maiden name was Catherine Barnett. She grew to womanhood on Clear Creek south of Elm Springs and was united in marriage to John Mount. Her husband was assassinated at Fayetteville in July 1881 and she was left with the care of a family of small children and suffered the many privations and hardships of a widow's life. For the past ten years she has lived at Elm Springs where she had a large circle of friends. Besides many other relatives she leaves four children: Edgar, Mrs. Ed Farish, Mrs. T.C. Glover and Mattie. Mrs. Mount was converted in early life and united with the church and was a faithful member to the end.
