Willie Melvin Boothe, 88, of Walnut Ridge, died Sunday at his residence. Born in the Evergreen Community, he was a lifetime resident of Lawrence County and a farmer.

He was pastor of the Evergreen General Baptist Church, and he had continued his ministry for more than 49 years.

Survivors include his wife, Rhoda Mae Forkum Boothe of the home; one son, Jimmy Boothe of Walnut Ridge; one stepson, William Greer of Byhalia, Miss.; two daughters, Betty Greer of Byhalia and Ada Mae Sandusky of Carlisle, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Betty Harpole of Paragould and Barbara Harpole of Delaplaine; one brother, Henan Boothe of Walnut Ridge; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola (Rock) Boothe, a son, a stepson, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 1 Tuesday afternoon at Bryan Funeral Home in Hoxie, with Marion Stringer and Bob Heath officiating. Burial will be in Whittaker Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be A.C. Stacey, Eugene Richardson, Delvin Harlan, Verlon Adams, J.W. Adams and Les Coffman.

Honorary pallbearers will include Norris Smith and members of the Presbytery of the Arkansas Association of General Baptists.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Rhoda Mae Forkum Greer Boothe Mullins, 88, formerly of Lawrence County, died Dec. 28, 2008, at her home.

Born Jan. 4, 1920, in Joiner, she was the daughter of Henry and Eva Cordelia Walker Forkum. She was a registered dietician at Greene Acres Nursing Home and attended Walnut Corner General Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Odos Greer, Willie Melvin Boothe and Ralph Mullins; a son, Odos Greer Jr.; and a grandson, Edward Darrin Harpole.

Survivors include a son, William Henry Greer and wife Betty, Byhalia, Miss.; two daughters, Betty Harpole and husband Johnny, Paragould, and Baraba Jean Harpole and husband Eddie, Delaplaine; a sister, Hazel Forkum, Paragould; five brothers, Melvin "Jack" Forkum, Norman "Wendy" Forkum, Tyler

"Tab" Forkum and Billie Joe Forkum, all of Walcott, and Richard Forkum, Columbia, Miss.; six grandchildren, Renee Greer, Michelle McCloud, John Harpole, Tommy Greer, Donna Breece and Amanda Hantke; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Walnut Corner General Baptist Church with Revs. Bobby Wade and Marion Stringer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
