MRS. ANNA MELTON CLARK

Mrs. Anna Melton Clark, 74 years old, wife of Almanza G. Clark, died at the family home three miles northwest of Bentonville at 11:10 o’clock Thursday morning, March 26th, 1936, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Clark spent six years as a missionary of the Presbyterian Church in Turkey and Persia.

She was born Nov. 10th, 1861, near Macomb, Ill., and was the daughter of the late Elbert and Elvira Wilcox Melton of Kentucky. She was married January 1906, at Valentine, Nev., and came to Bentonville with her husband in January, 1935, from Wisconsin, the couple building a home on property purchased by them northeast of Bentonville. Mrs. Clark entered missionary services from Bardolph, Ill, 47 years ago, and after her return from Persia and Turkey taught for some years in mission schools in this county.

She is survived by her husband; by two foster sons, John Clark of Chicago, Ill, and Hadley Clark of Wisconsin; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Perkins of Fairfield, Iowa, and Mrs. Lura Hahn of Lincoln, Neb. She survived also by a cousin, Mrs. Thomas S. Cale of Bentonville.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the chapel of the Burns Funeral Home in Bentonville, with Rev. Edwin E. Mace, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in the Bentonville cemetery. Mrs. Clark was buried in her wedding dress, made of cream moiré silk.

Pallbearers were F.H. Banks, Carl Banks, Alex Wright, Sam Henry, Jas. Huntington, and Erenst Berisehey.
