ALLEN, Preston - (from R.F.D. No. 3) Preston, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Allen of Avoca, died at his home Thursday, April 4th. The body was taken to Mason Valley for burial. The family has the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. When the Lord sees a flower too fair for this world of strife, he stoops down and takes it home to Paradise.

ALLEN, Preston Franklin - Preston Franklin Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Allen of Avoca, was born June 9th, 1898; died April 4th, 1912. He was taken violently sick April 3rd; he died of uremic poison, super-induced by intense study. All that science and affection could do to save his life was done. Preston spent all his earthly life in Avoca, where he was so respected and beloved that his departure caused a distinct personal loss to the entire community. He was altogether normal, sane and lovable. He stood at the head of the school as a student. In his home he was radiant with all that was healthful and helpful. Unto his parents he rendered constant obedience, affection and honor. In the Sunday school, at the preaching of the Word, under all circumstances, on every occasion he was an exemplary, manly, choice character, whom all loved. He was industrious, ambitious, unselfish; his whole record is one that is pleasant to remember. His sudden death was an undefinable sorrow, but they need such splendid boys over there or so many would not be taken. May his going home conduce to the good of us who remain in all needful preparatory work essential to a reunion where all is delightfully joyous and God-like. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. R.M. Thompson. All the town of Avoca was present. Preston has spent his first Easter in Heaven.
