Bruff Hudson, age 92, Little Rock, AR. formerly of Warren, AR. died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Chenal Rehab and Healthcare Center in Little Rock. Born March 29, 1917, in Ingalls, Bradley County, Arkansas, Sidney Bruff Hudson was a son of the late Roy Hudson and Barbara Briana Huitt Hudson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Verna Mae Williams Hudson, who died December 30, 2006. The son of share croppers, he began working at the lumber mills in Warren when he was 17 and retired as a construction superintendent at Potlatch’s Southern Plant 48 years later in 1982. A noted bass singer, he was a member of the Warren Quartet and attended hundreds of gospel singings in Arkansas and surrounding states. In the 1950s the Warren Quartet had a daily noon radio program on KWRF-AM. Prior to moving to the Good Shepherd Ecumenical Retirement Center in Little Rock in 1998, Bruff and Verna Mae were long-time members of Calvary Baptist Church in Warren. In Little Rock they were members of Park Place Baptist Church. Bruff is survived by two children, Marilyn Jane Hudson Jones and spouse Charles of Little Rock and Richard Bruff Hudson and spouse Joanna of Fayetteville. He had four grandchildren, Misti Jones Conrad and Doug Jones of Little Rock and Jason and Hayes Hudson of Fayetteville, along with eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace Woodrow Hudson and Cyrus “Cy” Wesley Hudson, and two sisters, Pauline Marie Hudson and Rosa Lee Hudson Johnson Raasch. Graveside services were 11:00 a.m. Monday March 8, at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Rocky Goodwin officiating. Arrangements by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Doug Jones, Edward Conrad, Hayes Hudson, James Raley and Mike Williams.
