Obituary
James A. Black, 91, of Fort Smith, entered into rest on Tuesday February 8, 2011 in local hospital.
He was born May 19, 1919 in Mansfield, Arkansas the son of the late James and Bertha Black.

James was a retired employee of Warmack Construction, an Army World War II Veteran, while serving in Fort Riley he taught the soldiers how to ride horses in the last Calvary Regiment, a member of V.F.W. and American Legion, and Allied Painters Union, and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Van Buren.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Kenneth Black and three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Fronie of the home; daughter, Doris Bowen of Fort Smith, three sisters, Ada Gothard of Fort Smith, Geneva Armstrong and Betty Boster of Salinas, CA; three grandchildren, James Allen Blackford, Katrina Chambers and Veronica Snow, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Friday February 11, 2011 at First Assembly of God Van Buren officiated by Reverend Bobby Johnson and Reverend Ronnie Toon with interment with military honors at Gill Cemetery, Van Buren, Arkansas.
