Marie Evans, 90, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Fayetteville, AR.
She was born in Webber Falls, OK to Maude Marie & John Cleveland Sevier on Nov. 23, 1921.

She became a resident of Van Buren, AR at an early age & resided there about 60 years.
She married J.N. Evans Jr. on March 1, 1945. She was a full time homemaker & mother until the loss of her husband on Nov. 13, 1964. Later, she was a receptionist for 18 years in the optometric office of Dr. William Polk in Fort Smith.

While residing in Van Buren, she was a member of St. John's Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in the women's ministries. Later, she was a member of City Heights United Methodist Church. Currently, she was a member of New Heights Church of Fayetteville. Her active memberships were a testimony to her abiding faith in Christ & His Grace and Salvation for her eternal rest in him. She moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas in August 2002 to be closer to her two children.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.N. Evans Jr. & her second husband, Harland L. Jones, whom she married in August 1992. She was also preceded in death by both one sister, Anna Kaiser and one brother, J.D. Sevier.

Survivors include her daughter, Niolene Evans Stanley & husband, Bill; her son, Marshall Dale Evans & wife, Sheila, all of Fayetteville She was fondly referred to as "Granny Ree" by grandsons Patrick Jay Martin & wife, Julie Ann of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Ashley M. Martin IV & wife, Dayla of Fayetteville. She, also, leaves granddaughters, Jennifer Treat & Michelle Hartman of Fayetteville, grandsons, Doug Stanley & wife, Jennifer of Lake Forest, CA & William "Stan" Stanley of Pahokee, FL and eight great grandchildren; sisters, Pearl McCutcheon of Muskogee, OK, & Claire Ward of New Orleans, LA; brother, George Sevier also of Muskogee, & a host of nieces, nephews & friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday March 17th 2012 at 1:00pm at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren, AR. Burial will be at Gill Cemetery.
