Nov 17, 1927 – Uncle Jim Majors is Dead

Mr James E. Majors, aged citizen of Wild Cherry, died at his home last Sunday morning, Nov 18th, at the age of 77 years.

Deceased has been in declining health for the past few years, suffering infirmities common to advanced age. For the past several months he has been confined to his bed with but little hope for his recovery.

Mr Majors was one of the most highly respected citizens of this section. Having been born and reared in the vicinity of Wild Cherry, he formed an intimate acquaintance with most every one for miles around. He was highly respected being a devout Christian, a man of out standing character. He was engaged at farming practically all his life and was numbered among the most successful farmers of this section. He was a strong supporter of the schools and churches. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Deceased is survived by his wife; one son, Ferd (sp) Majors of New Mexico; three daughters, Mrs J. E. Jones of New Mexico; Mrs Leona Sublett and Miss Nola Majors of Wild Cherry.

Burial took place in the Wild Cherry cemetery Monday afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Due of Wild Cherry, assisted by Rev T. J. Justice of this place.
