Evelyn "Jean" Iris Bowen was born on September 10, 1922 in Clarksville, Arkansas to the late John and Martha (Warren) Winfield. She died on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at her home, at the age of 85. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving family members include four daughters, Sharon Freeman of Lamar, Arkansas, Angela Cox of Clarksville, Arkansas, Alice Jacaway of Clarksville, Arkansas, and Betty Ruth Childers of Arcata, California; two sons, Leonard Bowen of New Albany, Mississippi and James Bowen of Ozone, Arkansas; one sister, Alma Casey of Grants Pass, Oregon; two brothers, John Winfield, JR of Eureka, California and Omar Winfield of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; twenty one grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha (Warren) Winfield; her husband, Johnny W. Bowen; one sister, Betty Pitts; two brothers, Menlace Winfield and Kenneth Winfield.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2007. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2007 at the Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel in Clarksville with Reverend Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville (479) 754-2201.

Casket Bearers will be Jeremy Bowen, Joshua Bowen, Matthew Bowen, Don Pitts, Michael Perren, and Marty Pitts.
