Mrs. Maude Pamplin Hill, 88, of Portland, died Monday, January 4, 1999, at the Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. Mrs. Hill was a native of Scott County, Miss., and a resident of Portland for the past 60 years until last September when she moved to Foley, AL. She retired after many years of teaching in the Portland Schools, and she was a member of the Portland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, E.A. Hill and Cleve Pamplin; her parents, Grover and Clara Wood Golden; two brothers, Dr. William Golyn Golden and Grover Zan Golden. She is survived by four nieces, Louise Golden Reid of Orange Beach, AL, Miriam Golden Craig of Birmingham, AL, Lynn Golden Yoder of Fort Wayne, IN, and Diana Golden Fesko of Munster, IN; 11 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-nephew and one great-great-niece. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday, January 7, at the Portland Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Grove officiating. Pallbearers were Scott Young, Jim Young, Floyd Kelley, Roy Travin, Sonny Streeter and Frank Higginbotham. Interment was at the Portland Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Portland Baptist Church, P.O. Box 86, Portland, Ark. 71663.
