Son of David & Lillie V Collins
Lloyd Vance Collins, 80, of Abita Springs, LA, died Friday, September 12, 2008. A native of Ashley County, a former resident of the Boydell and Montrose areas, Wichita, Kansas, and Pine Bluff and a resident of Abita Springs for the past 15 years, he was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1945-1952. He retired from International Paper Company in Pine Bluff in 1990. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8720 and Abita Springs Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Collins of Abita Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Roland Huie of Mandeville; two grandsons, Roland Huie, III, of Baton Rouge and Patrick Huie of Mandeville; one brother, Billy Collins of Little Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lillie Minchew Collins; two sisters, Alice White and Lois Farrar; and two brothers, Claude Collins and David L. Collins.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 25, in the Portland Cemetery with Rev. Larry Donaldson officiating. Memorial services were directed by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
