William R. Vines

William R. Vines aged 66, died at his home at Creswell Thursday. He was a native of Jefferson County, Alabama, but had lived in this section 63 years. He was a Baptist. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Blankenship of Evening Shade; six sons, Thurman of Gorby, Harlan in service overseas, Woodrow of Wenatchee, Wash., and Howard, Mason and Paul Vines all of Creswell; two brothers, Elijah Vines of Jumbo and John W. Vines of Creswell; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Vest of this place and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Palestine Cemetery Tuesday by Rev. C. W. Tapley, with arrangements in charge of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Wm. R. Vines Dies at Home near Creswell

William R. Vines one of this community’s most highly respected citizens died at his home near Creswell Thursday afternoon October 4, after a long illness.

The funeral was held Tuesday, services being conducted by Rev. C. W. Tapley, pastor of the Baptist Church at Melbourne. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery.

Mr. Vines was 66 years of age and practically all his life was spent in this county. He was born in Jefferson County, Alabama and came to Izard County at the age of two. He untied with the Baptist Church early in life and remained a devout Christian until called by death. His wife preceded him in death by three years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Blankenship of Evening Shade, Ark., and Miss Opal Vines of the home; five sons, Pfc. Harlin Vines with the army in Germany, Woodrow Vines of Wenatchee, Wash., Thurman Vines of Gorby, Howard and Mason Vines of the Home.
