R. A. Mason Dies After Long Illness

Richard A. Mason died Tuesday morning at his home at Gorby, after an illness of several months. He was 68 years of age.

Mr. Mason was well known in this section. He was born in this county and the greater part of his live was spent in the Gorby community, a few miles east of here, where he was engaged in farming. In the year of 1900 he was married to Miss Jane Speak, who survives him.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. D. E. Steely of this place, were held Wednesday afternoon at Palestine Church, burial being in Palestine cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Higginbotham Funeral service. Deceased was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving, besides his wife, are six sons, James, Jeff, Earl, Fred and Hayden Mason of Gorby and Thurman Mason of Creswell and one daughter, Mrs. Fannie Madge Lenox of Gorby; one brother, Robert Mason, of Washington state; two sisters, Mrs. Ezadia Vines of Creswell and Mrs. Oravilla Vines of Jumbo.
