He was the son of Benjamin Hiram born in Missouri and Harriet Ola (Manes) born in Alabama.
Some of his siblings were Melinda, Thomas, Winnie, William, John, Lenora, Bertha and David.
He was the husband of Sarah Caroline (Anderson).
Some of their children were Edith, Mary, Fleda, Lonie, Lester, Rosalee and Delpha.
