Mr. J. B. Mercer, of Dermott, died on the 16th inst., after a long illness. He was about 55 years of age. Mr. Mercer was the father of Mrs. Vance Bordeaux, of this city. He was one of the most prominent men of Chicot county, and was, for several years, Mayor of his home town, Dermott.
