COOK, Carl - Philander Cook, 19, of the Spring Valley community, is being held in the Washington county jail at Fayetteville without charge in connection with the death of his brother, Carl Cook, 22, which occurred early Sunday from an injury alleged to have been inflicted during an altercation between the two youths. Carl Cook died from a brain concussion, believed to have been caused by a blow, at a Springdale hospital where he had been taken for treatment. The brothers were said to have engaged in a fight at the home of a brother-in-law last Wednesday night and leaving separately, met in the road where a second fight is believed to have occurred. Philander Cook was arrested late Saturday night when it was learned that his brother's condition was serious and brought to the Fayetteville jail where
he has since been held. The youth has consistently denied knowledge of the events leading to his brother's death officers say. D. Youngman, brother-in-law of the two boys, stated that they were scuffling at his home and that the injured youth was found about 150 yards from his home. Officers are continuing their investigation.

No addition information was found regarding the above.
