Colyn Byler Sr.

Colyn Lee Byler Sr., 66, of Garfield, died Tuesday, April 27, at his home. He was born June 24, 1926, at Garfield, to Harper and Maude Widders Byler.

A lifetime resident of the Garfield area, he served as a rural mail carrier for 28 years with the U.S. Postal Service, Garfield. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Garfield First Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Vivian T. Byler of the home; a son, Colyn L. Byler Jr. of Garfield; a daughter, Scherry Byler Jackson of Garfield; two brothers, C.A. Byler of Springfield, Mo., and E.J. Byler of Rogers; four sisters, Isaloy Potter of Avondale, Colo., Easter Rubrecht of Neosho, Mo., Leora Martin of Seligman, Mo., and Jewell Brown of Vaughn, Mo.

Funeral is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Garfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Gebauer officiating. Burial will be at Ruddick Cemetery under direction of Sisco Funeral Home, Pea Ridge. Visitation is set for 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Vivian Byler

Vivian Marie Byler, 73, of Garfield died Feb. 5, 1995, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. She was born Jan. 3, 1922, in El Reno, Okla., to Alma and Mary Green Taylor. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Garfield and a longtime resident of Garfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Colyn Lee Byler, in 1993; one brother, Ezra Taylor.

Survivors include one son, Colyn L. Byler Jr.; one daughter, Scherry Jackson; one son-in-law, Wayne Jackson, all of Garfield.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge with the Rev. Tony Byler officiating. Burial will be in Ruddick Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
