FROM "PRESS ARGUS" Van Buren, Arkansas's local Newspaper. Dated: April 7, 1966.
Horace W. Shipley, 76 years old, 217 Fayetteville Street, Van Buren, died Wednesday, March 30, 1966 in a local hospital. He was a native of Crawford county and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a Baptist minister for 44 years and organized nine churches during that time, one of which is the Plainview Missionary Baptist church of Van Buren.
Survivors are his wife, a son, two daughters, two brothers, a sister, nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Viola Mae Shipley, 77, of Fort Smith, Arkansas died Tuesday at home. She was a retired nurse's aide at St. Edward Mercy medical Center and a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gill Cemetery.
She was survived by one daughter, Edith of Dubuque, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Martha of Stilwell; one stepson, the Rev. H. D. Shipley of Fort Smith; one brother, Carl of Vinita, Oregon; and 22 grandchildren.
