On Tuesday, October 3, 2006, John “Tune” Dukes, Sr., departed this life. He was born in Conway, Arkansas, on June 23, 1943 to the late James H. Dukes and Faye Dukes. Also preceded in death by one brother, Cotis Dukes. He united with United Baptist Church at an early age. A devoted worker of Universal Nolen/Whites Consolidation, after 32 years, John Dukes retired with the company.He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Elmira Dukes of Conway; four daughters; Tina Dukes (Lee) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Donna Williams (Darrell) and Valeria Remekun (Wilson) both of Mesquite, Texas, Debbie Dukes of Dallas, Texas; one son, John Dukes, Jr. of Conway; seven sisters; Thelma Dukes, Mary Dukes, Janice Dukes & Helen Dillard, all of Conway, Erma & Shirley Dukes, both of Kansas City, Missouri and Brenda Mance of Honolulu Hawaii; two brothers, James Dukes of Kansas City, Missouri and Ray Dukes of Mesquite, Texas; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
